Ahmedabad, 30 May 2013
Thousands of NSUI/Youth Congress workers joined BJP today in Ahmedabad in presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi, former Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Narhari Amin, Young woman MLA Poonamben Madam, Chandu Faldu, Ilesh Patel, BJYM Gujarat President Pradipsinh Vaghela among others.
The main person behind the event was Shri Narhari Amin who joined BJP last year just before the general elections of Gujarat assembly. Majority of those who joined BJP today are direct/indirect supporters of Narhari Amin.
Among those who joined BJP today are assembly seat level heads of NSUI, city or district Vice President, General Secretary of NSUI. Youth Congress and others. The only NSUI leader present on the stage was Hardik Dodia who was national delegate of NSUI. Dodia was recently suspended from NSUI. He is a Gujarat University level student leader. With him the President of NSUI – Gujarat University unit has also joined BJP.
BJP and ABVP were weak in Gujarat University campus and affiliated colleges for last few years. Then Congress leader Narhari Amin and NSUI were the main players responsible for this. However, now when Narhari Amin and his supporters are in BJP, the student and teachers politics of Gujarat University is dominated by saffron brigade again.
Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi in his speech said that he was informed about this programme only four days ago by Narhari Amin.
“Narharibhai and I met in some programme, and he requested to give one hour. It is commendable that in four days, you organized such a big event,” Modi said.
Modi told the youths, “welcome to family”.
He said, “A son of teacher could become Prime Minister of nation in this party. Once upon a time, I was selling tea in train and it is this party that has made me a Chief Minister. This is just not possible in Congress party.”
Modi assured the youths that their earlier contribution to society will be counted in BJP and they will not have to start their political activity from zero after entering BJP.
Modi described Congress as sinking ship. In apparent reference to recent activism of CBI in Gujarat, Shri Modi said that misusing constitutional authorities is not correct path. He said people will answer the tactics of Congress party in six seats by-polls in Gujarat.
Modi noted that though there’s no assembly, Lok Sabha, panchayat or civic poll, such a large number of Congress workers are joining BJP.
In his speech, Harik Dodia who joined BJP today said that he was working in NSUI for last six years, but Rahul Gandhi never met him. But just six days back he joined BJP and Narendra Modi is here on stage with him.
Today’s programme was Narhari Amin’s slap to Rahul Gandhi who was the key person behind denial of ticket to Amin in Gujarat elections last year.
