Gwalior, 1 June 2013
Speaking in Madhya Pradesh today afternoon, at the state BJP’s two-day palak-sanyojak meet in its valedictory session senior BJP leader LK Advani said that while Modi developed a healthy Gujarat into an healthier state, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan actually turned a bimaru state into a developed one. Talking of Modi and Chouhan in the same breath, Advani said both have big roles to play in making India a leading nation of the world.
“I tell Narendra Modi that Gujarat was a healthy state and you made it a healthier one. Hence, I salute you. But Madhya Pradesh was an ailing state, which Chouhan has not only made healthy, but has also given it a place of pride in the national and international arena. Hence, I congratulate him,” said Advani.
Advani even equated Chouhan with former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee when it came to humility and achievements.
He said the biggest virtue of Vajpayee was that he was not affected by arrogance, even after so many achievements.
“Shivraj is same. He remains humble even after so many achievements in Madhya Pradesh”, Advani added.
Praising Chouhan’s Ladli Laxmi scheme and Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojna, the veteran BJP leader said while more than 14 lakh girls were benefited by the former, none other government in the country launched a scheme as novel as the latter.
“After becoming the President, Pranab Mukherjee first honored Chouhan,” he reminded the assembled crowd.
