Opening of iconic cable-stayed bridge over river Tapi in Surat likely in first week of October

Surat: Chief Minister Vijay Rupani is likely to inaugurate a new cable bridge built over river Tapi in State’s second largest city Surat on 2nd October in the morning. The bridge is likely to be named after founder of Jan Sangh/BJP Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay. Surat Municipal Corporation(SMC) wanted Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate this iconic bridge, however Prime Minister Office showed inability to spare time for the inauguration during Prime Minister’s scheduled September 30 visit to Gujarat. It has been therefore now decided that Chief Minister will inaugurate it on 2nd October. There’s great excitement in Surat regarding opening of this cable-stayed bridge. SMC has decided to dress the bridge with permanent dynamic thematic lighting decoration.
