What happened when Election Commission team visited Padra?
Vadodara, 22 October, 2010
In a historic decision, a team of Gujarat state election commission led by Deputy Election Commissioner Shri K.L.Parmar reached Padra today to bring a ballet unit in question out of the strong room to check it in presence of media, administration, election commission, and candidates.
All 10 candidates of this seat were instructed to remain present in writing. However those who had complained about rigging in EVM, dramatically refused to remain present citing reason that the election commission had skipped the name of BJP in complaint, and instead of that had mentioned ‘other candidate’.
Those who had alleged rigging in EVM continued to demand cancellation of counting, scrapping the election process, and repoll.
When Election Commission official K.L.Parmar took signature of all candidates and opened the strong room to check the EVM, suddenly those candidates who had alleged rigging refused to participate in this EVM checking process citing the reason narrated above.
Meanwhile Additional Collector(Coordination) Shri Ashko Maheta told that counting for Padra Nagarpalika will be held as per the schedule barring ward no. 06 for which the decision of state election commission is awaited. Whatever decision the election commission delivers as per the clarification of BEL, will be followed by the administration.
