Rajkot: Nayanaben Pedhadiya has become the new Mayor of Rajkot city. She is a councilor from Ward No. 4. Narendra Singh Jadeja has been elected as her deputy. Jaymin Thakar has been appointed as the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC).

Pedhadiya, who was earlier a member of the Standing Committee, has been elected as the 22nd Mayor of RMC.

The names were decided by the ruling BJP’s state parliamentary board in a series of meetings in Gandhinagar last week. The new office bearers will hold these posts for two and a half years after the previous term of elected office bearers ended. The post of the Mayor was reserved for a woman councilor for this term.
