January 29, 2024
Valsad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today nabbed a police constable working in the Local Crime Branch in a bribery case involving a sum of Rs. 3,00,000.
The complainant in this case used to run a liquor business, which is prohibited in Gujarat earlier but had stopped doing so. The accused, Ashishbhai Mayabhai Kuwadia, Police Constable (Badge No. 928) of the Local Crime Branch Valsad, threatened to file a false case against the complainant in the prohibition act and demanded a bribe of Rs. 5,00,000 to not do so. The bribe amount was reduced to Rs. 3,00,000 after discussion.
However, as the complainant was not willing to pay the bribe, he contacted the ACB. Later, in a trap set up today, the ACB caught the accused red-handed while taking the bribe from the complainant. The accused has been detained, and further proceedings are underway. DeshGujarat
