Bhuj: A Talati – Manti from Kukma village in Bhuj, along with a trader, was arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from a farmer to include his house in the village’s revenue records.
According to the ACB, the complainant approached Vaghsinh Vaghela, talati of Kukma village panchayat, and Uttam Rathod, a panchayat member, to have his house entered into the village’s revenue records. The duo demanded Rs 4 lakh for the task, with Rs 2 lakh to be paid upfront. Unwilling to pay, the complainant sought help from the ACB. The ACB set a trap on Sunday, during which trader Nirav Parmar accepted the bribe on behalf of Vaghela and Rathod and was caught red-handed. Vaghela was also later arrested, while efforts are ongoing to locate Rathod. Investigations revealed that Parmar had previously collected bribes on behalf of both Vaghela and Rathod. DeshGujarat
