Anand Mahindra Praises Kutch’s Scenic ‘Road to Heaven’

Mumbai: The picturesque “Road to Heaven” in Kutch has been drawing widespread admiration for its breathtaking landscape and serene atmosphere. Industrialist Anand Mahindra recently praised the scenic stretch on X, saying that even without visiting the place personally, the visuals evoke a profound sense of peace and introspection.

Referring to the route, Mahindra wrote, “They call this the ‘road to heaven.’ Looking at that horizon, I can see why. I haven’t been there yet, but I can already feel the silence.”

He also shared a philosophical reflection on life and self-discovery, stating that while people are fortunate to have the support of friends and family, the most meaningful journeys are often internal. “A reminder that while we are blessed with friends and family to cheer us on, the most important journeys are the ones we take within ourselves. We all eventually have to find our own road,” he remarked.

Mahindra’s post resonated strongly with social media users, many of whom shared their own experiences and interpretations of the route’s beauty. Several users described the place as peaceful and surreal, while others highlighted India’s vast and underexplored tourism potential.

Some users responded with deeper reflections, questioning whether people recognise their “road to heaven” only in retrospect or while actually experiencing it. Others described the destination as an “out-of-this-world experience.”

The Gujarat “Road to Heaven” is a nearly 30-km-long scenic stretch in the Rann of Kutch that connects mainland Kutch to Dholavira, a UNESCO World Heritage Site associated with the Indus Valley Civilisation.

The road is known for its dramatic seasonal transformations. During certain months, the surrounding landscape resembles an endless sheet of water, while in other seasons it turns into vast white salt plains. The changing light during sunrise and sunset further enhances the dreamlike experience for travellers.

Apart from its natural beauty, the route also holds historical and cultural significance as it links Khavda with Dholavira. The stretch gained wider popularity after being used during activities related to the G20 Summit in 2023.

The ideal time to visit the region is between November and February during the Rann Utsav, when pleasant weather and scenic landscapes attract tourists from across the country and abroad. DeshGujarat
