As per the DRM of Ahmedabad Division, the development is expected to provide Gujarat’s spice industry with improved access to markets in Northeast India while promoting safe, economical and environment-friendly transportation through railways.
In another major freight movement, the Ahmedabad Division also facilitated the transportation of edible oil from Bhimasar station in the Gandhidham region to Bari Brahmana and Anantnag in Jammu & Kashmir.
As part of the operation, 11 BCN wagons were dispatched to Bari Brahmana, while nine BCN wagons were sent to Anantnag. The consignments generated revenue of more than Rs 17 lakh, officials said.
Railway authorities stated that the initiatives reflect the growing confidence of traders and industries in railway freight services. They added that the expansion of new commodity traffic is also helping reduce pressure on road transport networks. DeshGujarat
