Relief from Heat in Gujarat: Maximum Temperature Falls Over 4°C in Two Days in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: Residents of Ahmedabad received some relief from the intense summer heat as the city’s maximum temperature dropped sharply to 40°C on Saturday, down from 44.4°C recorded on Thursday, marking a decline of more than 4°C within two days.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature on Saturday was 1.9 degrees below normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 29.4°C, which was 1.2 degrees above normal.

The fall in temperature comes amid increasing cloud cover and changing weather conditions across parts of Gujarat. The drop has provided respite after Ahmedabad experienced a spell of severe heat earlier this week, with the mercury crossing the 44°C mark.

A similar pattern was observed in other parts of Gujarat. Surendranagar again emerged as the hottest place in the state on Saturday with a maximum temperature of 41.3°C, although it too recorded a decline from the higher temperatures witnessed earlier this week. It was followed by Ahmedabad and Bhavnagar at 40°C each and Rajkot at 39.9°C. Temperatures remained comparatively lower in coastal districts, with Surat recording 35.6°C, Dwarka 34.4°C, and Veraval 34°C.

In the Kutch region, Bhuj recorded a maximum temperature of 37°C, while Kandla registered 37.5°C. Gandhinagar also witnessed relatively milder conditions, with the mercury settling at 39.5°C, about 2.2 degrees below normal.

Notably, after a prolonged spell of above-normal temperatures, several cities across Gujarat recorded below-normal daytime temperatures on Saturday.

The changing atmospheric conditions and moisture incursion are helping moderate temperatures across several parts of the state, offering temporary relief from the peak summer heat. However, temperatures are expected to hover around the 40°C mark in inland districts over the coming days. DeshGujarat
