28 Food Samples Fail AMC Quality Tests; Karnavati Dabeli, Paldi Juice Centre Among Outlets

Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has found 28 food samples collected from eateries, food manufacturers, dairies and street vendors across the city to be either unsafe or substandard during food safety inspections conducted under the Food Safety and Standards Act in May.

According to AMC, nine samples were declared unsafe for consumption, while 19 were found to be substandard, raising concerns over food quality and hygiene standards at several establishments, including popular outlets such as Karnavati Dabeli and Paldi Juice Centre.

Among the unsafe food samples were burnt oil collected from Sapphire Foods India Ltd. in Nikol, two samples of Mangalmurti cow ghee linked to Murlidhar Food Products in Nikol, turmeric powder from a warehouse in Madhupura, mango milkshake from an ice cream and sweets outlet in Shahibaug, chilli powder from a trader in Madhupura, and paneer sold by a dairy and ice cream parlour in Khokhra.

The substandard samples included pani puri water from a roadside vendor in Maninagar, ragda from food stalls in Nava Vadaj and Khokhra, turmeric powder from a hospital canteen in Bapunagar, tofu from a restaurant in South Bopal, mango juice from a juice centre in Bapunagar, American nuts ice cream, tutti-frutti, butter, low-fat paneer, processed cheese, vegetable sauce, Manchurian and kiwi juice from various establishments across the city.

The samples were collected from different parts of Ahmedabad, including the East, West, North, South, Central and South-West zones, as part of AMC’s routine food safety surveillance drive. DeshGujarat
