Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi watched special screening of UTV Motion Pictures’ forthcoming film ‘A Wednesday’ on Saturday afternoon at City pulse multiplex on Ahmedabad Gandhinagar highway. Modi praised the movie after watching it.
He said “This film has capacity to provide a new strength to humanitarian forces for their fight against terrorism. I have watched the film not as a critic but as a common man. Director Neeraj Pandey has highlighted the problem of terrorism very well. Nasiruddin Shah and Anupam Kher are seasoned actors and they have acted very well. This film has shown how common man is fighting against terrorism on his own.”
Speaking about terrorism he said “Supportive role of security agencies, political power, media and society all-together is necessary to counter terrorism successfully. All humanitarian forces should unite and should show strength to fight against terrorism in one voice employing all available capacity.”
Neeraj Pandey, the director of the film and Anupam Kher who plays the police commissioner in the film, were present at the venue to show the film to Modi.
Some ministers:home minister Amit Shah, cabinet ministers Vajubhai Vala, Nitin Patel, Narottambhai Patel, minister of state Mayaben Kodnani and Parbat patel and police officers including Gujarat police chief P.C. Pande were also part of the audience at this show. When Modi arrived, Anupam Kher welcomed him. Kher accompanied Modi in the show.

Modi is not a movie buff but it was Kher who managed to convince him to watch this film. Kher plays Mumbai’s police commissioner in the movie. “Ahmedabad recently experienced terrorism through series of bomb blasts at public places on July 26, and I strongly felt that there were few aspects in the film that a leader of Modi’s stature should watch it. There is a need to spread awareness about terrorism. After Modi, we will approach chief ministers of other states as well. A big leader like Modi watching the movie will help us. Also, no film has talked about terrorism as this movie does and thats’ why we thought Modi was a perfect candidate to watch this movie first.”Anupam Kher said.

The movie, ‘A Wednesday’, tells the story of some events that unfold between 2 pm and 6 pm on one particular Wednesday in Mumbai. Mumbai’s commissioner of police Prakash Rathod(acted by Anupam Kher) gets a call demanding the release of four terrorists in exchange of information on locations of bombs planted in different areas of Mumbai. Although in a dilemma, Rathod doesn’t give up. He employs his all resources to track the caller(acted by Nasiruddin Shah).
Modi has earlier watched a Gujarati movie titled Karmabhoomi Gujarat Ni, based on his life. He has also watched Border, Gadar, Sardar, Kargil LOC, Veer Savarkar and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

It was my good luck that i have seen this moovie with Narendrabhai & Anupam Kher & his Team at Citypulse.
Before starting the Moovie Anupamji said something about Moovie.
He said “Why i m Launching this movie from Here and In Presence Of Modiji??
He said “Modiji k Man me jo baat Hoti hai Voh Muh pe b Hotihai” ( Narendra Modi always speaks his heart. Never a double speak)
He proved once again…As CM (Common Man) with uncommon political will power”

Anupam Kher is prakhar rashtravadi rashtrabhakta. He is one of the most genuinely patriotic persons in Mumbai film industry.
He is Kashmiri pundit and has always speak for plight of Kashmiri pundits.
He has numerous times visited Kashmiri Pundits who are kicked out and are made displaced refugees by Muslims of Kashmir valley.
Modi always rocks..i hope one day Hindustan will have him as our PM
Jai Hind.

Official Appreciation
The other day Chief Minister Narendra Modi went to watch ‘A Wednesday’, a film on terrorism by actor Anupam Kher. Officially, he said he “appreciated” the attempt to show how a common man fights terrorism. However, those who attended the film’s premier think otherwise. This is what one of them said: “Kher may have been successful in seeking to market the film through Modi. Modi didn’t seem really impressed. It was a very ordinary Bollywood film.”
Another official added, “It didn’t show the police in good light. It sought to incite the common man to resort to violence and undermined the administration’s role. How could our Saheb like it?” Nearly 90 persons watched the film with Modi, including a few IAS babus in the CMO and the state home d e p a r t m e n t . Though DGP PC Pande made his presence felt rather eloquently, chief secretary Manjula Subramaniam, known for her literary taste, stayed away.
First comment by Hitesh proves correct as
Kher said “Modi was a marketing medium for this film” in Times of India interview:
—So, is it a marketing strategy? “This is a small budget film. And it is certainly a medium to reach the mass.” Is Modi a medium too? “Yes, why not?” he acknowledges. —

Let me too suggest a link
Underline this thing in this article ‘He(Anupam Kher) now hopes that “A Wednesday”, which releases Sep 5, will get a tax exemption in Gujarat.’

Another good thing in this article is that when Anuapm called Modi to watch his film modi asked him to tell story of the film in two lines. So all those who want to have Modi in their film’s screening please be ready with your story in two lines.
It would be interesting to see whether Modi announce this film as tax free or not.
