Illicit liquor deaths:It’s politics time for Gujarat Congress

The Congress party in Gujarat continued to attack the government inside and outside the assembly house on Friday. Politics dominated the Friday in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar in the backdrop of the illicit liquor tragedy that has so far killed more than 114 poor slum dwellers.

A group of Youth Congress and NSUI workers broke the window glasses of the district BJP headquarter and locked the premises located at S.G.Highway. All this happened in less than a minute. TV news channels were called here to capture this act.

The Youth Congress workers also pelted stones over IIPM building and broke the glasses. At least 50 Youth Congress workers were detained by the police as they were trying forceful closure of several colleges in the city. Youth Congress workers damaged the BJP office in Surat too.

In Gandhinagar, the Congress MLAs dressed in black staged walk out from the house and broke glasses in the assembly premises. There was a scuffle between Congress MLAs and police during this ruckus. The speaker ordered district police chief’s report in this matter.

Several Congress leaders sat on Dharna in Majur Gam, one of the worst affected areas of illicit liquor tragedy.

Meanwhile more 17 illicit liquor victims were admitted into the hospitals in Ahmedabad. The Chief Minister earlier in the morning reviewed the latest situation of illicit liquor tragedy in Ahmedabad. He especially emphasized to focus on the treatment of the victims.

City Crime Branch arrested 3 more suspects in connection with the liquor deaths.
