Ahmedabad, DeshGujarat, 9 October, 2009

The annual market research event at IIM-Ahmedabad, Insight, is scheduled to host projects of 17 companies and students from 25 colleges across the nation.
Unlike previous years, the event will be organized for two days.
The event will be kicked off on Saturday. The first day will see competitions and events only for students. On the second day, locals in Ahmedabad will be allowed to see the event and institute’s gates will be open to the general public.
Besides, the line-up of companies of previous years, including Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Housing corporation, companies like Videocon, Cafe Coffee Day and Ahmedabad-based Roots Cutlery have doled out projects.
AMC has increased the number of projects to three from last year’s two.
The AMC projects this year will include development plan of Kankaria Lake Front and BRTS. Radio Mirchi too is increasing the number of projects to four, the same as Hero Honda.
Understanding the Insight event
-Companies want to know the taste, the opinion or a view on certain things about their existing product or future projects.
-If the companies state away go and do a survey, the survey may not delivered proper result.
-Therefor the companies give a survey-research task to IIM Ahmedabad students.
-The students scientifically carry out the surveying task by inviting people to the campus during Insight event.
-IIMA students carry out survey operations through games and other lighter activities, so that people don’t feel like they have participated in survey.
-Suppose you are a young man and you visit the Insight event, the IIMA guys will take you to a stall and give a video game to play. You play a motocross video game for five to ten minutes in which there are banners of some brands at both sides of the road. At the end of the game the IIMA guys would ask you to narrate which advertisements you saw during the game. You mark some of the brands on paper and get a gift. The IIMA guys would know that whether banner advertisements in video game serve any purpose or not. Does a player recognize the banners soon after he has completed the game?
-Many of the visitors get gifts after completion of survey. This year LCD TV is the supreme reward that one lucky visitor would secure.
-Each visitor is not directed to each and every project stall. According to their age, gender and economic ability, they are sent to selected stalls.
-To ensure maximum footfalls, the students arrange range of activities along with the main event. This year they have organized a music event, magic show, food stalls etc.
-About 8,000 common people are expected to come to the campus to participate in the event.
