Ahmedabad, DeshGujarat, 23 October, 2009
Winter schedule of airlines is out and Ahmedabad is all set to get more connected with existing and newer destinations.
Kingfisher Airlines which had withdrawn its Ahmedabad-Indore flight service some time back has now announced to introduce a daily – Ahmedabad-Indore-Raipur-Kolkata flight from October 25.
Ahmedabad-Indore route seems attractive these days because another airline – GoAir has also announced a flight to Indore from Ahmedabad.
In another development, Indigo Airlines is planing to start daily Ahmedabad-Mumbai-Cochin flight in December this year.
While Jet Airways has changed only the flight timings this winter, GoAir has withdrawn its two Ahmedabad-Delhi flights and a flight to Shrinagar via Delhi. Indian Airlines is withdrawing its Ahmedabad-Kolkata flight from October 28 and extenging its Kuwait-Ahmedabad-Hyderabad flight till Chennai.

This is good for A’bad the largest and fast growing city of Gujarat. Will definitely help in bringing more businesses to A’bad and its surrounding.
On a separate note, why are these airlines not starting any flights to and from Surat. Surat is Gujarat’s second largest city and India’s most important center in textile and diamond industry. People from all over India have migrated to Surat for earning their livelihood. Surtis never think twice in spending as well, so all in all it could become a profitable sector for the airlines to operate flights on this route.
Hope that the big business minds in these airlines think something about Surat sector as well.
