What a Paghdi Modiji!(Photos)
Dahod, DeshGujarat, 1 February, 2010

Gujarat Chief Minister is captured in photos above in Dahodi tribal dress during Garib Kalyan Mela organized in Dahod today. Huge piece of textile is used in making of such authentic Dahodi paghdi(turban). The top that Mr. Modi has dressed up is authentic Dahodi top with silver chains. Gujarat has such a rich diversity of dresses. But western pent, shirt and t-shirt are speedily killing this diversity.

“But western pent, shirt and t-shirt are speedily killing this diversity. ” while it could be true, people prefer to pick up whatever works for them. if pent, shirt and t-shirt are more convenient to wear, it will be more popular and will be adopted by the mass.

Hinduism changes with time without any clashes. That’s the real beauty of Hinduism.

The day when human eyes will be able to look beyond persons outside appearence(Outfit,Color & Complexion of Skin,Language,Race,Religion,Voice,Physical Appearence) & able to understand person inside(Thinking,Soul,Actions….etc.) then only then problems in this world will start to decrease.

  5. V Patel says:

It isn’t about westernization or easternization, its about practicality; what fits and allows you to move around freely. You can’t expect people to wear “dhoti” & run to catch bus. You can’t expect people to dress like this daily…it was useful for farmers who used to stay out longer in heat…CS

  6. Inquilab says:

We need to Appreciate our Mother Culture first before becoming prey to the outside hype.
In a tropical nation like ours Bombay dyeing suites made from petrochemicals is a torture.

  7. Rishi says:

The problem is not just about “pant, shirt” only. But why is the culture adoption only ONE-WAY. We keep westernizing but they don’t adopt anything of ours. If this one-way flow of culture continues then it is not a bad thing to be so called “Narrow minded” if that is what it takes to preserve your culture.

  8. KENT says:

    VERY GOOD “PAGHDI”… VERY PRACTICAL….
VEDAS SAY “ACCEPT GOOD FROM EVERYWHERE”….
LET US ALL NOT ARGUE “BECOME GOOD PERSON”……..JAY SHREE KRISHNA…

    Hi all,

    Don’t see outer look.

see the intention behind that. In India we have diversity in culture. people weared different clothes time to time according to their requirements.

modiji is exactely doing the same thing to achieve their moto.

we all should proud of him.

Modiji is Great ! and hope other leaders should get some lessons from our COMMON MAN.
