Gujarat will develop a second Lion safari park at Ambardi in Amreli district, 60 km from Diu. The Central Zoo Authority of India has already approved this safari park proposal in year 2008.
Replying to a question by Dhari MLA Mansukh Bhuva, the government said this in Gujarat assembly. However, the government said the project is still at planning stage. The work would begin only after the plan is ready.
Ambardi would be the second interpretation zone similar to existing Devaliya safari. As the Khoidar dam is near, there would not be any water shortage issue. Tourists visiting Diu would have a break at Ambardi safari to watch Lions, thus this would create a new circuit.
