On Thursday in Gujarat Assembly house both BJP and Congress MLAs were agree on BJP’s Radhanpur MLA Shankarbhai Chaudhary’s private member bill for controlling misleading advertisements.

During discussion on this bill, one MLA gave example of Lifebuoy soap TV ad that says ‘Tandurasti ki raksha karta hai Lifebuoy'(Lifebuous soap protects your health). The MLA said it is ridiculous that a soap can protect health. The reality in even interior village area is that the children prefer packet food over pure Ghee and butter offered by their mother, because of bombarding of advertisements of this packet food and that packet food.

Another MLA said, some Tantrik astrologers give advertisements in newspapers that any type of task, love, property, financial problems would be solved with 151% guarantee. Such ads trap innocent people readers of the newspapers.

Modasa MLA gave his own example. He said he had to suffer because of Idea mobile’s advertisement that says “Walk when you talk.” The MLA said he was walking on the steps of the assembly house in Gandhinagar and suddenly his phone started ringing. As soon as he picked up the phone and started talking while walking, he missed a step and was limited to bed then after for two months.

Shankarbhai Chaudhary’s private bill made atmosphere in the house lighter due to such discussion.
