Digital language lab opens at Central Jail Ahmedabad(Photos)

A digital English language laboratory was launched today inside the central jail of Ahmedabad. The laboratory has capacity to train 24 prisoners at one time. A Kamdhenu mobile class room mounted on bus was also launched in Ahmedabad’s Central Jail on Wednesday. Kamdhenu mobile is capable to teach 10 students on computers and can teach 20 students theory at one time. Kamdhenu mobile will take need analysis test of prisoners. Kamdhenu mobile will travel to various cities for 35 days. It will ask 100 questions to the students. Students will have to give answers in 45 minutes time. Based on their answer, the mobile team will decide that which student is fit to join which line in his career.
Gujarat’s Jail department has taken this initiative with cooperation of HCL and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar open university. Prisoners of Sabarmati jail will be able to have higher education inside the jail and will be able to explore job opportunities once they are out of the jail. Secretary of Home department in Government of Gujarat Shri Balvantsingh opened the bus and digital language laboratory.

Great news. Be careful to monitor their activities since the entire world is to their finger print. Actually last week I was thinking in similar line that they should be tought law and allowed to take law courses on premises.Many get in to trouble without knowing consequences.
Nice to see this kind of activities for Prisoners. May be this thing will help them to get job when they come back to society.
