Dog census will be carried out in Ahmedabad

Humane Society International’s Chief Executive Officer Andrew Rowan(U.S.A) and veterinary director Dr. Sunil Chawla on Saturday visited Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s senior officers and discussed the modalities of carrying out dog census in Ahmedabad with Commissioner IP Gautam. The organization has expressed readiness to carry out dog census during August and September and release a report after that by October second week. The team of Humane Society International will visit different parts of Ahmedabad in next two days and prepare a plan to carry out census which would be submitted to the Municipal Commissioner. According to AMC release, the Human Society International is ready to bear all the expenses for proposed dog census of Ahmedabad. Once the total figure of stray dogs in city is determined, the target of sterilization of dogs will be decided. Further procedures will be carried out by AMC in cooperation with Animal Welfare Board of India as per an MOU signed between two organizations.
