It’s construction was completed two and half years late. It’s inauguration took place on 4th July, and it was announced that it would commence operation from 15 August. But it couldn’t start operation on 15 August, an it was announce that the operation will start from 1st September.

Now 1st September date is knocking the door, and the new terminal of Ahmedabad international airport is all set to start operation, but that too on trial bases for now, as major works are yet to be completed.

According to airport sources, the first plane scheduled to be arrived at new international terminal will be a Qatar airways plane from Doha. The Airbus A321 plane will arrive at new terminal at 4.40 am.

However departure of same plane will take place from old international terminal only.

This seems only a face saving exercise, through token operation to keep a date, because just arrival of one international flight is not enough.

The airport authority officials has no idea when the new terminal will be fully functional. They are unable to answer whether UDF charges will be effective from 1st Sept or not. Or will it be effective at old international airport too or not!
