Gujarati NRI patient arrested in NJ for keeping gun in hospital

A Gujarati NRI patient at Riverview Medical Center was arrested after hospital staff found him with a gun.
Red Bank Police were called to the Front Street hospital early Thursday morning after emergency room staff said they believed an admitted patient was carrying a handgun.
Upon police investigation, Nirav Patel, 30, was found carrying a 22-caliber magnum revolver.
According to court documents, Patel admitted to carrying the gun but told police that he found it in the parking lot of a 7-11 convenience store.
He was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a weapon. The court ordered Patel held on $50,000 cash bail with no 10 percent option.
It is unknown why, or for what, Patel was seeking medical treatment at Riverview Medical Center.
