At least 50 MLAs were absent on any day of Gujarat assembly budget session last year

Not more than 132 MLAs were present at one time on any day of the last budget session of Gujarat assembly, while the total strenth of the assembly is 182. This detail has been revealed by Ms Falguni Joshi in her survey which was made public today in Ahmedabad.

According to this survey, Two MLAs of BJP Shri Nanubhai Vanani and Shri Amit Shah were absent throughout the budget session of 2011-12 which was in effect between 24 February and 30 March last year.

Those MLAs who asked highest number of questions in last budget session as per the survey were:

Raghavji Patel(60) Congress
Amit Chavda(59) Congress
Dhirsinh Barad(58) Congress
Lalsinh Vadodaria(57) Congress
Mafatlal Purohit(54) BJP
Iqbal Patel (53) Congress
Kanubhai Kalsaria (52) BJP
Kunvarji Halpati (51) Congress
Bachubhai Kishori (50) Congress

Those MLAs who didn’t ask a single question during the session were:

Pabubha Manek BJP
Amit Shah BJP
RC Faldu BJP
Mangaldas Patel BJP
Dolatbhai Desai BJP
Brijrajsinh Jadeja Congress
Paresh vasava Congress
Chandubhai Vaghasia NCP
Dinesh Patel Independent

As per the survey, 9 MLAs asked more than 50 questions, while 10 MLAs asked less than 10 questions.

CM, Speaker, Ministers, leader of opposition and chief whip of both parties were not covered in this survey.

According to this survey the women MLAs asked highest questions pertaining to the Home ministry(39) while lowest to Science and Technology and Law ministries(2). There are 16 women MLAs in Gujarat assembly, of which two are ministers.
