This is not just a good news, but great news for the Gujarati people living in Mumbai and in Ahmedabad.

As per the announcement made by then Railway minister Mamta Banerjee in her railway budget 2011-12, Ministry of Railways have now decided to increase the frequency of 12268/12267 Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central Duranto Express from Tri-weekly to daily with effect from 26th of April, 2012 from Ahmedabad and with effect from 27th of April, 2012 from Mumbai Central .

Train No. 12267 Mumbai Central-Ahmedabad Duranto Express departs from Mumbai Central at 23.25 hrs to arrive Ahmedabad at 06.00 hrs. Similarly, Train No.12268 Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central Duranto Express leaves Ahmedabad at 23.45 hrs to reach Mumbai Central at 06.15 hrs, the next day.

The train has 1st AC, 2nd AC, 3rd AC and 3rd Economy coaches. While first AC fare of one-direction journey is Rs 1620, the 2nd AC fare is Rs 880, 3rd AC fare is Rs 540, and 3rd Economy fare is Rs 490.

Ahmedabad – Mumbai Duranto is amazing train which connects both cities in shortest possible time compare to any other train(even Shatabdi) on this route. Entire train is Air conditioned. The train has no commercial halt anywhere between Ahmedabad and Mumbai central.

As soon as the train leaves the station, most of the passengers switch off the lights and sleep. Before even they complete their sleep, the destination across 493-km distance arrives. The train runs on railway track very speedily, and if you don’t sleep, you can feel that it runs like water flowing down the slope.

However we criticize Mamata Banerjee for her whims, she deserves appreciation for her Duranto initiative which has emerged as alternative to costly flights.
