A double-decker train connecting Ahmedabad and Mumbai will be launched in June this year. Ahmedabad division of Western Railway has already received such train in third week of April. Trial runs are on under the supervision of experts to check for safety and technical aspects at present.
Ahmedabad-Mumbai double-decker AC train was announced in railway budget in 2011. However it could not be launched in budget year itself.

The double-decker chair-car train will have nine coaches, including seven AC double-decker chair-cars with 128 seats in each coach. The carrying capacity of the train is 60 per cent more than a normal train. While 70 passengers will seat on lower floor, 50 will be accomodated on upper floor in double-decker train.
