Joint disaster management annual dril held at Air Forice station, Jamnagar

A Joint Disaster Management Annual Dill was conducted at Air Force Station Jamnagar on 02 May 12. Exercise aimed towards ensuring the co-ordination between the state functionaries and the Indian Air Force in case of natural calamities happening in the region. Representatives from all Talukas, Districts, State Government and all the other directly/indirectly associated departments actively participated.

The programme began with the state disaster rehabilitation authorities indicating natural calamities prone areas in the state and efforts taken by them to cope with such situations. Participants also discussed about the types of disasters that occur throughout India. The Air Force representatives elaborated about the type of helicopters which are used for such operations, their load capacity and the nature of co-operation which is expected from civil authorities for timely action during natural calamities. A static display and dummy winching operation was also shown by MI-8 and Chetak Helicopters.

The programme was attended by Air Commodore PR Navalkar, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station Jamnagar, Mr. Sandeep Kumar, District Collector Jamnagar, Mr. Dinesh Modi, ADM Jamnagar & ADMs from Saurashtra.
