A newer kind of problem in Narmada water (Video)
By our correspondent, Narmada dam, 14 May 2012
The Sardar Sarovar Nigam is dealing with a newer kind of problem at Narmada water. The problem is caused by water based wild plant that grows rapidly over the surface of water body. This variety of flora, known as ‘Jalkumbhi’ is nearly impossible to remove completely. It’s like a ‘Gando baval’ of water which spreads too much, and nearly impossible to remove. This plant absorb too much water and thus adversely impacts the water storage. Watch the video to know how Gujarat’s forest department and Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam jointly are dealing with this new problem.

(1) How is it prevented in other parts of world? – May be weather
(2) Is there any Fish or other creature (non toxic and non attacking) that eats this vegetable?
(3) Is there any human friendly, crop friendly, non toxic chemical that can kill this?
(4) Why is it not happening on Canal water and on rivers? – May be flowing water
the Gujarat govt. is so proactive, like a first-world administration. you simply don’t feel it belongs in India.
the problem is very few who leaves in india, speaks about good and bad about gujarat.
This problem of “GANDO BAVAL” is not new in the nation… many lakes have this problem….
I have a feelings that the WATER RECLAMATION ENGINEERS has a solution for the problem….
YOU can put special fish that will eat this …… FLOWING water usually can not let anything grow in the river….. so water somehow has to flow…..
JAY HIND…
