GPF interest rate for state govt employees 8% and 8.6%

Chief Minister Narendra Modi has decided to make the general provident fund interest rate for the state government employees 8% and 8.6% for the year 2010-11 and 2011-12 respectively.
Accordingly, the state government employees will get 8% interest on their GPF amount from April 1, 2010 to November 30, 2011 and 8.6% interest during December 1, 2011 to March 31, 2012.
It may be noted here that the state government fixes the interest rate on GPF every year taking as the base the rates fixed by the government of India.
