Ahmedabad, 20 June 2012
An earthquake of moderate intensity, measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale, jolted the Kutch region of Gujarat at around 1.44 am today, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
Most of the people have not experienced this earth quake at all, and they are surprised to learn that there was an earthquake in the night. This is perhaps because people were sleeping at that time.
The quake, which had its epicenter at latitude 23.6 degrees North and longitude 70.4 degrees East, occurred at 0144 hours today at a focal depth of 10 km, an IMD bulletin added.
