A convenience store clerk NRI Gujarati was sent to jail for illegal gambling and for what appeared to be synthetic marijuana.
30-year-old Jignesh Patel was arrested Monday afternoon around 5 at the Fastee Foods on Napier Avenue.
A search warrant initially intended for commercial gambling led Macon Police to over $10,000 in cash and almost 75 bags of what appeared to be synthetic marijuana, which will be tested.
Patel has since been released on a $5,900 bond.
Major Charles Stone credited a tip from the public that led to the arrest.
“Search warrants like this are part of our ongoing effort to stop the illegal gambling and drug sales fronted by legitimate businesses,” Stone said in the release.
