Ahmedabad, 6 July 2012
“Are the tigers communal and lions secular?” Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi raised the question in a wild life photography book launch function in Ahmedabad on Friday.
“Central government has special feeling for tigers, and Rs 200 crore are allocated for tigers, but similar treatment is not given to lions,” Shri Modi said.
“Are tigers secular and lions communal,” he raised question which attracted immediate applause with laughter in the audience present in the hall.
“If centre had taken equal approach for lion and tiger, it could be a great contribution in the area of tourism for the state, but only one angle it seems has played a role, communal and secular,” Modi said.
Launching a book by veteran wild life photographer Sanat Shodhan in Ahmedabad, the Chief Minister said that Gujarat government has given camera to foresters working in Gir jungle.
“this small initiative will throw more light over the wild life of Sasan Gir,” he added.
