Villagers in central Gujarat’s Dahej area opposed ongoing work of Adani group’s 18-km-long conveyer belt on Thursday and threatened agitation if the work is not stopped.
The locals of Lakhi village said that a new conveyer belt would pass through their village and create voice and pollution. It would adversely affect their health.
They said, “Lakhi village panchayat has already filed a petition in court against conveyer belt and the case is pending, but Adani is continuing its conveyer belt work.”
Villagers stopped the trucks containing coal and obstructed engineering work related to conveyer belt.
Village sarpanch and other locals alleged that police was behaving with them like they were security guards of Adani.
