Movie theatres were evading tax worth crores in Ahmedabad(Video)

Till last year the annual entertainment tax revenue registered at Ahmedabad district collectorate was Rs 12 crore. Last year the revenue increased and was Rs 22 crore. The target of the revenue next year is Rs 30 crore. This detail was shared by Ahmedabad district collector Shri Vijay Nehra today during his interaction with media.
Theaters falling in the ‘video theater’ category pay lower tax compare to full-scale theaters. The district Collector in his probe found that as many as 28 video theaters in Ahmedabad were actually the full-scale theaters. They were providing facilities like a full-scale theater and were earning too like a full scale theater, but they were paying entertainment tax as low as Rs 6-8,000, thanks to a ‘video theater’ status they were enjoying. Now compare this 6-8000 with the sum of Entertainment tax for any full-scale theater, which is Rs 1-2 lakh per month.
The district administration has recovered actual entertainment tax from 28 luxurious video theaters including 4 screens of City Gold Ambli, four screens of City Gold Shyamal, 4 screens of City Gold Bapunagar, 3 screens of City Pride Saijpur, 4 screens of City Pulse Raipur, 4 screens of Revolution CTM, 4 screens of Wide Angle, 1 screen of Shyamal Gold Bareja, 2 screens of Ke Sera Sera, and 1 screen of BPCL Bareja.

Whole taxation system of India is a joke. For majority people paying tax is a matter of choice. There are millions of way to avoid tax and have been kept so by law makers themselves to help out their buddies.
@ Gujarati, You are absolutely right… After independence we are taught such that you can avoid paying tax by bribing to person with POWER,,…. NO morality, No ethics… and THIS is the way you can avoid…. If I do not pay fine, everyone else is paying…. THIS Is our thinking…… I blame entire our society and education system….. AND I blame CONGRESS party rule for the situation of TODAY…..NO offense to anyone but things are changing slowly…..
THE day INDIANS will start thinking that this is my COUNTRY and I am responsible for well being of nation, THINGS will start changing…. IT took us 60 years plus to become morally corrupt and ethically dead. so it will take some time to improve….. THE DAY ALL CONGRESSES will die, things will change fast….. JAY HIND…
So will these “video theaters” have to pay any penalty for evading tax so far? If not, what will prevent others from evading tax?
Good Point, they have not paid taxes which they were suppose to pay, this is cheating, why Collector need consent of this kind of chor public, weather they should be taxed like cinema halls or not?
They agreed readily because they were aware of the fact that they were doing wrong but, allowed to continue.
Anyways, its better to be late then never.

Simple Calculation :
New tax income : 28 * 120000 = 3360000- (Video centre income : 8000 *28 )= 31, 36 000 INR.
Collector saheb kahe che ke masik 1 crore vadhare avse. Kai rite? My calculation is showing approx 32 lakh increase in revenue which leads to not more that 3.84 crore annually.
