Narendra Modi reviews the situation occured due to poor monsoon, central team to arrive on 3rd August

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today held a meeting to review the poor monsoon, its impacts on ground and government’s actions taken to respond the situation.

The issues related to irrigation, drinking water, fodder supply, rural employment were part of the discussion in the meeting which was attended by senior most government officials and ministers.

The Chief Minister was told that contingency plan has been implemented in all 26 districts. A 24-hour control room has been activated for relief.

A high-level committee of ministers meets once a week for policy level decisions while a committee headed by the Chief Secretary meets daily to review the situation of drinking water, irrigation water, fodder and rural employment.

Narmada canal oriented works are now going on in speedier manner. Taking long-term benefits in consideration, desilting work will be initiated.

Rs 41.78 crore water supply works are to be held for short-term water supply . The timetable of drinking water supply management based on Narmada canal has been altered. Five water grid projects worth Rs 3060 crore for drinking water supply will be speedily completed. The Chief Minister has asked to start advance planning to provide drinking water to 6026 villages and 105 towns.

Group water schemes for drinking water in central Gujarat and hand pump based schemes in tribal and central Gujarat will be immediately kicked off.

Narmada canal’s Navda pumping station’s storage capacity will be up from 4,000 lakh liter to 6,000 lakh liter.

The Chief Minister asked the administration to put action plan in practice through agriculture department for alternative sowing of crops where sowing has not happened yet.

Three crore Kg fodder will be sown during the year to prepare in advance for fodder availability in the state.

On 3rd August, the central team will be in Gujarat to witness the situation occurred due to delayed rain. The Chief Minister discussed the points to be put before the central team for getting maximum help from the central government for drinking water, irrigation, employment etc.
