Vadodara, 10 September 2012
Speaking in a function of Federation of Gujarat Industries in Vadodara today, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi said that the state will announce a policy on defense equipments manufacturing.
“We will come out with a policy on defense equipment manufacturing,” Shri Modi said.
“India received independence 70 years back, and we are still importing arms from foreign countries, spending billions of rupees in foreign exchange. If our entire security is dependent on foreign countries, it’s not proper for a self esteemed nation with 120 crore people,” he added.
“Even trucks for our Army come from foreign nations! The nation may or may not do something in this regard, but Gujarat will do,” he further added.
“We have directed out Universities to make some changes in engineering studies. Sardar Patel University has already started courses,” shri Modi said.
