Quick highlights of PM’s campaign speech in Gujarat

Some quick highlights of Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh’s Gujarat campaign speech at Vansda, Gujarat today.

-The people of Gujarat have a unique competence, something that the world recognizes.

-The BJP government has proved to be incompetent. The fruits of development have not trickled down.

-Education infrastructure is not good here, tribal children have not been granted good education due to the state government.

-There are no employment opportunities, development is limited to a select few.

-We take care of the aam aadmi, we provide lunch to children in schools, give employment through NREGA.

-Gujarat government has failed to utilize funds given by the central government for state’s development.

-I am sad that the schemes to provide clean drinking water that the central government brought about have not been implemented here.

-We want unity and development in Gujarat.

-We do not divide people like the opposition parties, free Gujarat from this politics of division.

-We promise you that if Congress makes the government in Gujarat, every Gujarati will feel safe.

-They are feeling unsafe. Even state government’s some of the officers have complained about it. It is very sad that such an atmosphere exists in Mahatma Gandhi’s Gujarat. If Congress govt is formed in Gujarat, we will make all classes and sections feel safe.

-I have full faith that you will vote for Congress. I wish you vote for Congress and make Smt Sonia Gandhi’s hand stronger.

-The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government has proved to be incompetent. The fruits of development have not trickled down.

-Gujarat could only claim to be a developed state today because of the industrialization policy of the Congress government in the 1970s.

-Gujarat’s development is only for a few people, large sections are untouched by it. The state government has failed to balance development.

-On the human development index, Gujarat was ranked 18th of the 20 main states in India.

-It is sad that 41 percent of women in Gujarat are malnourished and 55 percent in 15-50 years of age group are anaemic. A big chunk of children don’t complete primary and upper primary education in rural Gujarat.

-Congress-ruled states were doing much better.

-Central schemes like rural health mission, rural employment guarantee scheme and others have brought development in Congress-ruled states.

-The benefits of central government schemes are not reaching the people of Gujarat.

-We will ensure overall development of the state and implementation of central government schemes if the Congress is voted to power.
