Cyclothon for cyclists, closed roads for others! (with pictures)

The city of Ahmedabad today witnessed its first Cyclothon event. The event is being discussed among the citizens for two resons; one for its success in figures of participants, and two for the traffic issues it created in various areas.
Like say, the left lane from Manekbag cross roads to Shyamal was closed for traffic. Similarly the left lane from Panjrapol char rasta to IIM cross roads too was closed for the traffic. Now these two roads were not among the pre-announced list of roads to be closed to make a way for Cyclothon!
Due to 26th January public holiday, the newspapers were not in circulation today. And therefore many people were surprised about closure of main roads during 6.30 am – 1.00 pm. Verbal argument with policemen, traffic jam on alternative routes was common scene. The problem however was somewhat lesser in intensity thanks to Sunday.
The roads that were declared closed for the traffic:
Nehrubridge to Income Tax circle on Ashram road
Income tax circle to CG road and Mahalakshmi cross roads
Paldi Bhattha to Anjali to APMC market
APMC market to Helmet circle
Helmet Circle to Thaltej cross roads to Vaishnavdevi circle
Bopal circle to Vaishnavdevi – Sughad circle
BRTS routes closed
Visat junction to Maninagar
RTO to Naroda
ISKCON to Maninagar
Anjali to Naroda
Diversion of traffic
-Gandhinagar to Vaishnavdevi
-Balapir Adalaj
-Chiloda to Sarkhej, Vadodara to Sarkhej heavy vehicle traffic diverted from Ranasan circle
-Traffic from Sanathal circle to Bopal and Shantipura circle to Sanand
