Environment friendly execution of Ahmedabad BRTS project, details of plantations with pictures


Ahmedabad, 27 May 2013

There are total 136 BRTS buses serving on 67 km long route in Ahmedabad. Of them 30 are air conditioned buses. Daily 1.25 lakh passengers travel in BRTS buses in Ahmedabad. Janmarg has continued plantation in BRTS corridor. A decision has been taken to carry out this activity through public private partnership. Following are the details of plantation.

Narol Naroda – Karen 860-00, Champa 16000, plus Neem, Gulmahor, Sonmahor, Tubia, Kadam, Saptaparni, Spethodia total 1587.

RTO to Shah Alam – Mehndi, Karen etc total 45000, Neem, Gulmahor, Garmalo 618

Maninagar loop – Karen 1000, Champa 300

Odhav to Soni ni chal – Karen 5000, Champa 2000

Lokmanya Tilak garden to Sarangpur darwaja – Karen 2000, Champa 1400

Sabarmati to Visat – Karen 1000, Champa 300, Boganvel 5000, Gulmahor, Mahogani, Kadam, Saptaparni, Spethodia 630

Shivranjani to ISKCON – Mehndi 6000, Karen 3000, Champa 110

Narol to Danilimda – Mehndi, Karen total 1000

ISKCON to Bopal – 700 big trees are planned. Work to be started after first rain

Sola cross road to Bhuyangdev – 5000 small plants to be planted after first rain.

Total 1,65,000 small plants and 3,550 big trees.

Under the BRTS project, so far 574 trees are removed, against which more than 1,65,000 small plants and 3,550 big trees are planted. Of them 50,000 small plants are maintained through PPP model while others are maintained by Ahmedabad Janmarg Limited.

Award to BRTS

Ahmedabad’s Bus Rapid Transit System(BRTS) project has won UITP India Political Commitment award and design award. Deputy Municipal Commissioner/Transport Manager Shri Arjav Shah and CEPT Executive Director Shri Shivanand Swami received the award.

UITP is the international body of Urban Transport agencies in the world.
