Addressing a public meeting at Goa after party’s national executive, leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Shri Arun Jaitley congratulated party president Rajnath Singh for taking a decision(on Modi’s elevation).

Jaitley said, BJP is only political party that has a structure. It is the parliamentary board that decides about who will be a leader, but in that process, opinions of lakhs of people are taken. I compare it with America where years of discussions take place before a decision on leader is taken. They call it primary. There’s no such system in India. Today by giving the charge of elections to Narendra Modi and asking him that you take the responsibility, a face has been given to the feelings of not only the party workers but crores of people.

Jaitley said, “I congratulate Shri Rajnathsinghji, but with him I congratulate Shri Narendra Modiji. The responsibility assigned is a challenge. It is a challenge because people of India feel that Congress should be uprooted from the throne.”

He said, “today’s announcement is the first step in the run of year 2014 elections. The way party workers across nation have welcomed it, I should say a proverb – well begun is half done.”

Jaitley said the nation is feeling itself bechara and leaderless. The Prime Minister office was never target of humor, jokes, sarcasm. Atalji is not active for last many years due to health reasons, but people start applauding even today, before we even take his name.These are the footprints of leadership. Congress made this national leaderless and indecisive.The Prime Minister is neither the leader of nation, nor leader of party. He enjoys position, but not power. Some local businessmen of Goa met with Goa Chief Minister yesterday. They were complaining that the state government is doing enough, but they were worried about the centre.
