Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi dedicated flyovers and other urban development projects worth Rs.71-crore here today. They included a Amitnagar Junction flyover bridge costing Rs.31-crore and Urmi bridge expansion project costing Rs.20-crore, besides 100 Anganwadi Blocks and Skill Development Courses.

Speaking at a huge function on the occasion, he appealed to the people to resolve to build a ‘Congress-Free India’ as the people have lost trust on the non-performing Central Government. The root cause of India’s malady is the corrupt Congress rule, having no policy, unashamedly playing vote bank policy with the poor. The Centre could no bring the Food Security Bill in the last ten years.

Mr. Modi took strong exception to the Centre’s starving the poor and allowing millions of tons of food grains to rot and distribute the now rancid food grains to the liquor manufacturers at throwaway price of 65 paise per kg,

On the other hand, he said, Gujarat is humming with development activity with people’s participation, despite being hit by several calamities during the last decade. Gujarat has institutionalized disaster management, equipping the municipal and other local bodies with modern systems. The state government has gearing up the disaster management techniques in this age of skyscrapers.

Mr. Modi said the annual budget for urban development in the state has increased from Rs.175-crore to Rs.7,000-crore over the last decade. Nearly Rs.15,000-crore has been spent on the urban poor.

Earlier, as Mr. Modi drove from the airport to Muktanand Maidan through Karolibag, people lined up along the route to cheer the Chief Minister.

Finance Minister & District Guardian Nitin Patel and Revenue & R&B Minister Anandiben Patel also spoke on the occasion.
