7 GMERS-run hospitals get high-end microscopes worth Rs. 1 crore each

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government today announced high-end microscopes have been provided to seven GMERS hospitals across the state. These microscopes, made available at an estimated cost of Rs. 7 crore, will enhance the health and well-being of patients. Each unit of these microscopes costs approximately Rs. 1 crore.

GMERS Medical Hospitals in Sola (Ahmedabad), Gandhinagar, Gotri (Vadodara), Patan, Himmatnagar, Junagadh, and Valsad have received this modern equipment.

This facility will benefit more than 4,000 villages in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara, Patan, Banaskantha, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Kheda, Anand, Chhota Udepur, Mahisagar, Junagadh, Valsad, Navsari, Dang, Gir-Somnath, and Amreli districts.

The microscope has been made available to the state under the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) scheme of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), a Maharatna company of the Government of India.

Features of the modern microscope:

  • High-quality zoom technology for clearly seeing the smallest parts of tissue during operations.
  • Especially useful for cochlear implant surgery for congenital deafness, skull base surgery for tumors occurring in the inner part of the head, removal of small and large brain tumors (CP angle brain surgery), and surgery for facial nerve weakness or injury.
