April 25, 2026
Ahmedabad: Gujarat continued to reel under intense summer heat on Friday, with temperatures rising significantly above normal across several parts of the state. According to the weather report issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Amreli recorded the highest maximum temperature at 43.3°C, followed closely by Rajkot at 43.1°C and Ahmedabad at 42.1°C.
Major cities including Gandhinagar (41.5°C) and Vadodara (41.6°C) were also among the hottest locations, indicating a widespread heatwave-like situation across central and Saurashtra regions. Temperatures in most inland areas were recorded 1.0°C to 3.2°C above normal, highlighting a notable deviation from seasonal averages.
Surat, which due to its coastal nature usually stays cooler, was also gripped by heat and registered 40.0°C, while Bhuj (41.4°C) and Deesa (40.3°C) also experienced scorching daytime conditions. Some coastal areas remained relatively cooler, with Dwarka at 31.8°C, Veraval at 32.0°C, and Okha at 33.8°C, though humidity levels were significantly higher in these regions.
Minimum temperatures also stayed above normal in several cities. Ahmedabad recorded a minimum of 27.0°C, while Gandhinagar reported 26.5°C, both about 2°C above normal, indicating warm nights adding to discomfort levels.
The prevailing weather pattern suggests that Gujarat is currently experiencing a dry and hot spell, with no immediate relief expected. Furthermore, the IMD has issued a warning for hot and humid air conditions in all coastal parts of Gujarat. Authorities have advised residents to take necessary precautions against heat exposure, especially during peak afternoon hours. DeshGujarat
