Demolition Drive Continues in Dwarka; More Illegal Religious Encroachments Razed

Dwarka: The district administration continued its anti-encroachment drive for the second consecutive day, clearing large-scale illegal religious and commercial structures from government land across multiple villages, officials said.

According to a statement from the Dwarka Mamlatdar, encroachments spread over about 15,000 sq m in Survey No. 51 of Varwala village, valued at around ₹1.06 crore, were removed as part of the drive.

On April 30, the administration, backed by police deployment, demolished religious and commercial encroachments covering nearly 2,140 sq m in Survey No. 58 of Arambhada village. The cleared land is estimated to be worth ₹1.34 crore.

On the same day, about 532 sq m of religious encroachments in Survey Nos. 32 and 34 of Dwarka village were removed in the presence of police. The land is valued at approximately ₹93.1 lakh.

The operation, carried out under tight police security, involved heavy machinery to demolish unauthorised structures. In a notable development, a religious institution at Varwala beach voluntarily cleared its encroachment after receiving notice, even before the administration initiated action. Officials said this sets a precedent for compliance while respecting religious sentiments.

The drive was conducted under the supervision of the prant officer and local police officials, including the DySP.

Authorities said similar operations will continue in the region as part of efforts to curb illegal encroachments. DeshGujarat
