Banas Dairy Declares Rs 15 Hike in Milk Procurement Price

Palanpur: Asia’s largest dairy cooperative, Banas Dairy, has announced a Rs 15 per kg fat increase in milk procurement prices, providing major relief to lakhs of milk producers across Banaskantha and Patan districts.

With the latest revision, the milk procurement price has been increased to Rs 860 per kg fat. Dairy officials said the decision was taken to help farmers manage rising expenses related to cattle maintenance, fodder, and animal feed.

Banas Dairy Chairman Shankar Chaudhary said the cooperative is currently receiving an additional 70 lakh litres of milk every day. He stated that the revised pricing structure is expected to directly benefit nearly 4.5 lakh cattle breeders in the region.

The increase in procurement prices will also strengthen the rural economy, as higher payments to farmers will lead to the circulation of crores of rupees in villages across North Gujarat.

Under the revised pricing slabs, payments to milk producers will continue to be calculated based on the category of cow and buffalo milk, along with SNF (Solids-Not-Fat) content.

Chaudhary said the dairy remains committed to the welfare of cattle breeders and farmers, adding that the increase in the base procurement price is an important step toward supporting rural livelihoods and the dairy sector.
