Gujarat GST Revenue: Post-Settlement SGST Collections Rise 16% in May 2026

Gandhinagar: Gujarat recorded a strong year-on-year growth in its post-settlement Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue in May 2026, driven by higher settlements from the Integrated GST (IGST) pool, according to data released by the Union Finance Ministry.

The state’s post-settlement State GST (SGST) revenue, which includes SGST collections as well as the SGST share of IGST settled to the state, increased to ₹7,181 crore in May 2026, marking a 16% year-on-year growth from ₹6,166 crore collected in May 2025.

On a pre-settlement basis, Gujarat collected ₹4,024 crore in SGST during May 2026, registering a 3% increase compared to ₹3,898 crore in the corresponding month last year.

At the national level, post-settlement SGST collections across states and Union Territories rose by 6% to ₹88,188 crore in May 2026 from ₹82,874 crore a year earlier. Pre-settlement SGST collections also grew by 3%, increasing to ₹45,143 crore from ₹43,902 crore in May 2025.

Meanwhile, Gujarat’s overall GST collections recorded a marginal 1% year-on-year growth in May 2026. According to state-wise GST revenue data, the state’s GST revenue stood at ₹11,206 crore, compared to ₹11,113 crore in May 2025.

Despite the modest increase, Gujarat remained among the country’s leading GST-contributing states. Only Maharashtra, Karnataka, Haryana and a few other major industrial states reported higher absolute GST collections during the month.

The data shows that Gujarat’s GST revenue increased by ₹93 crore over the corresponding month last year. While several large states witnessed a decline in GST collections, Gujarat managed to maintain positive growth, indicating stable economic and commercial activity.

Among major states, Uttar Pradesh recorded a 13% increase in GST collections, while Haryana posted 8% growth and Telangana registered a 6% rise. In contrast, Tamil Nadu reported a 15% decline, Delhi saw a 17% drop, and Rajasthan recorded an 11% fall in GST revenues.

Nationally, gross GST collections stood at ₹1.34 lakh crore in May 2026, down 3% from ₹1.38 lakh crore collected during the same month last year.

Though provisional, the figures indicate continued economic activity and stable tax collections across the country. Gujarat’s double-digit growth in post-settlement SGST revenue underscores the state’s strong GST performance and the positive impact of IGST settlements during the month. DeshGujarat.
