GIDC Plans ₹791 Crore Deep-Sea Effluent Disposal Pipeline for Jambusar Bulk Drug Park

Bharuch: The Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) has called for bids for a major infrastructure project for the Bulk Drug Park (BDP) being constructed in Jambusar. The design, construction, and commissioning of a 60 MLD effluent deep-sea disposal pipeline system. The project is estimated to cost approximately ₹791.53 crore.

The project will be executed in the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) model. The project is an onshore-offshore project. The pipeline’s main aim is to transfer treated industrial effluent continuously from CETP Bulk Drug Park to a deep-sea disposal site at Dahej.

Project Scope and Infrastructure

Onshore Pipeline: A twin 800 mm diameter HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) pipeline approximately 47.7 km from Jambusar to Kadodara and a single 900 mm line 12.1 km to the landfall point.

An offshore pipeline comprising a 900 mm diameter HDPE line, which is 7.39 km long in the Gulf of Khambat.

Deep-Sea Dispersion: The system will terminate at a depth of roughly 19.4 meters with a specialized diffuser system featuring 34 ports to ensure the effective dispersion of treated effluent.

Supporting Facilities: The scope includes the construction of a main pumping station, intermediate pumping stations, and specialized RCC and earthen guard ponds with a storage capacity of 120 ML each.

GIDC has set a timeline of 18 months for the completion of the work, which includes a mandatory trial run. Following commissioning, the selected contractor will be responsible for the comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M) of the system for five years.

Environmental Compliance

The project is designed to strictly adhere to environmental and pollution control norms. GIDC has already obtained Environmental Clearance (EC) from the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), though an amendment regarding the final diffuser point location is currently being processed.
