Ahmedabad to Get ₹82.6 Crore Sports Complex

Ahmedabad: With an eye on hosting the Commonwealth Games in the city, the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is set to build an integrated sports complex in the Bhadaj area of the Thaltej ward. The civic body has invited bids for this sports infrastructure project, which is estimated to cost ₹82.60 crore.
World-Class Facilities for Indoor and Outdoor Sports
The complex will be designed as a hub for a diverse range of activities, featuring both high-performance competitive arenas and recreational zones.
Indoor Sports Block: The heart of the facility will be a multipurpose indoor sports hall consisting of a four-court hall for basketball, volleyball, and badminton, alongside a multi-sport hall which will be dedicated to combat sports like taekwondo, kabaddi, and wrestling, as well as table tennis.
Specialized Shooting Range: Sharpshooters will have access to a 10-meter indoor shooting range equipped with 20 targets for air pistol and air rifle practice.
Outdoor Arenas: The complex will have the outdoor spaces for tennis, basketball, and volleyball, along with eight pickleball courts.
Other than traditional sports, the complex will also have a digital game room, a wellness center for yoga and aerobics, and a recreational zone for carrom, chess, snooker, and billiards.
Supporting Facilities
The complex will be equipped with comprehensive infrastructure to support players, staff, and visitors.
Player and Official Support:
• Lounges for players complete with changing rooms and lockers.
• Coach cabins and dedicated rooms for referees and media.
• First-aid room and a medical service station.
• Training room equipped with audio-video facilities.
Administrative and General Areas:
• Administration offices and cabins, including a dedicated VIP lounge.
• Cafeteria, juice bar, and nutrition center.
• Waiting areas and a double-height entrance lobby.
Infrastructure and Utilities:
• Basement parking with trimix flooring.
• Multiple equipment stores for various sports.
• Technical rooms including AHU (Air Handling Unit) rooms, electrical and ELV rooms, and water cooler rooms.
• Comprehensive accessibility features, such as disabled toilets on various floors.
The construction is expected to be completed within 18 months (excluding the monsoon season) after the civic body passes the work order.
The civic body has also set high standards for the project, requiring the design to meet the norms of international bodies such as the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and the Badminton World Federation (BWF).
