Masked Gang Robs Elderly Businessman of ₹2.5 Crore Cash, Gold in Rajkot

Rajkot: A group of masked men allegedly stormed the house of a 77-year-old businessman late Friday night and escaped with cash, gold and other valuables worth nearly ₹2.5 crore.

The victim, Jitendrasinh Ajitsinh Jadeja, belongs to a well-known family involved in agriculture, petrol pump operations and land development businesses.

As per the details, four to five masked intruders allegedly broke open the main door and entered the residence under the cover of darkness. The sound alerted Jadeja, but the accused reportedly overpowered him, threatened him and took control of the premises.

Recounting the incident, Jadeja told police that the robbers fled with ₹2.47 crore in cash, gold ornaments worth around ₹2 lakh, a rifle and a mobile phone.

Investigators said the accused allegedly inflicted minor injuries on the elderly businessman before carrying out the robbery and escaping from the scene.

Following the incident, senior police officers rushed to the spot and launched a large-scale investigation. Rajkot Rural Police are treating the case as one of the most significant robberies reported in the area in recent years.

Rajkot Range IG Nirlipt Rai said the robbery appeared to have been carefully planned and executed during the night. He added that police received information about the crime around 2 am and immediately activated multiple teams to investigate the case.

Police officials, including the PI, DSP and SP, reached the residence soon after the alert. Teams from the Forensic Science Laboratory, dog squad and fingerprint unit were also deployed. Investigators have collected crucial evidence from the scene and are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas. Special teams have been formed to identify and arrest the suspects.

A case of robbery has been registered at the Shapar-Veraval Police Station, and further investigation is underway. DeshGujarat
