One Booked in Ahmedabad for Blocking Road to Shoot Social Media Reel

Ahmedabad: A social media promotional video shot in the middle of a busy Ahmedabad intersection has landed a 19-year-old youth in trouble after the reel went viral, prompting traffic police to file a case for endangering public safety.

The video showed the youth sitting on a chair in front of vehicles waiting at the traffic signal at Shyamal Crossroads while promoting passes for a Navratri event. Though no mishap occurred, police said the act was dangerous and posed a risk to both the individual and other road users.

According to N-Division Traffic Police, an investigation revealed that the video was filmed at Shyamal Crossroads on June 21 and was later uploaded as a promotional reel on the social media page of 360 Events. Police subsequently identified the person featured in the video as a 19-year-old resident of Anandnagar.

During questioning, the youth told police that the reel was part of a promotional campaign designed to attract attention on social media. Based on the inquiry, police registered a case against him under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for obstructing traffic.

Police officials said the incident highlights a growing trend of content creators and event promoters resorting to risky public stunts to gain online visibility. While the traffic signal was red and vehicles were stationary at the time, preventing any accident, the act violated traffic norms and created a potentially unsafe situation at a busy junction.

Authorities warned that strict action would be taken against influencers and promoters who compromise public safety in pursuit of social media attention. Following widespread criticism online, the reel was later removed from the social media platform. DeshGujarat
