Gujarat to Set Up Market Rate Committee for Power Line Compensation: Govt

Morbi: Gujarat Minister of State for Labour, Employment and Skill Development Kantibhai Amrutiya today chaired a meeting with farmer representatives to discuss the implementation of the state government’s decisions aimed at ensuring transparent and appropriate compensation for land affected by the laying of power transmission lines in Morbi district, a press release said.

The meeting, held at the Collector’s Office Conference Hall, was attended by local public representatives, farmer leaders and officials. Discussions focused on the government’s revised compensation policy, including the methodology for determining market value under the new government circular and the financial benefits available to affected farmers.

Addressing the gathering, Amrutiya said the expansion of power transmission infrastructure is essential for the state’s future industrial and rural development. At the same time, he stressed that the government is committed to safeguarding farmers’ interests and has taken significant decisions to ensure they receive maximum economic benefits. He urged farmer representatives to spread awareness about the revised compensation policy at the taluka level so that eligible farmers can fully benefit from it.

District Collector Swapnil Khare said all power companies have been instructed to deal with farmers in a sensitive and transparent manner during the land acquisition and compensation process. He also assured that farmers with any queries or grievances related to compensation can approach the concerned Mamlatdar’s office, where their issues will be addressed promptly.

Among those present at the meeting were Wankaner MLA Jitubhai Somani, District Development Officer Vidyasagar, Resident Additional Collector S.J. Khachar, District Panchayat Vice-President Vipulbhai Garchar, District Panchayat Executive Committee Chairman Manishbhai Kanjiya, along with political representatives, farmer leaders and other stakeholders from the district.  DeshGujarat
